As of July 1, 2025, GUM no longer provides assistance for Rent or Water. They no longer have funds available for rent bonds, court order eviction and/or hotel stays, first month's rental payment, or rental deposit.
Financial assistance for the above program is for Guilford County residents only. High Point residents are only eligible for power/light service if you have a Duke Energy account in your name.
For assistance with utilities, must have: proof of income, a verifiable unexpected crisis that caused a brief financial hardship and one that you did not cause and an approved crisis that occurred within the last 3 months, please refer to app and website for complete eligibility requirements.
